OpenAI Faces Privacy Complaint from NOYB Over ChatGPT's Data Handling

OpenAI has found itself in hot water as NOYB files a privacy complaint against the company for alleged mishandling of personal data by its generative AI chatbot, ChatGPT. NOYB's complaint stems from a specific incident where a user, who is also a public figure, asked ChatGPT about their birthday. Instead of informing the user that it did not have the necessary data, ChatGPT repeatedly provided inaccurate information. When the user requested OpenAI to rectify or delete the erroneous data, the company refused, citing technical limitations and failing to disclose details about the data processing, its sources, or recipients.

This incident highlights broader concerns about data privacy and the reliability of AI-powered systems like ChatGPT. NOYB argues that if ChatGPT cannot provide accurate and transparent results, it should not be allowed to collect personal data about individuals.
