Ghost of Tsushima's PC port has been delisted in countries without PlayStation Network.
A few days after Sony's policy regarding PSN account linking led to a revolt by The Helldivers 2 player community, which resulted in the game's reviews crashing down. Sony did reverse their decision, after the backlash, but it seems like the real issue at hand is yet to be addressed. The Problem with Sony's account linking policy is relating to the fact that the PlayStation Network Service is not available in over 170 countries and territories.
As Sony's other major PC release, The Ghost of Tsushima Director's cut is nearing it's release date of May 16. Digital game store fronts like Steam, Epic Games Store and Green Man Gaming are reportedly cancelling and refunding preorders for the game's PC port, to the players that don't have access to a PSN account. Though the Single Player Campaign doesn't require a PSN account link, and it's only needed for the Legends online multiplayer mode and to use the PlayStation overlay. As clarified by the games developer Sucker Punch Productions in reply to a fan's protest:
All of the stores having disclaimers noting the same thing. But as of now the platforms are delisting the game, with steam sending the following message:
You are receiving a refund for a game you pre-purchased - Ghost of Tsushima. The publisher of this game is now requiring a secondary account to play portions of this game - and this account cannot be created from your country.
And Green Man Gaming, the following:
All of this is resulting in a frustrating experience for both the players and developers alike, casting a negative shadow over the Gaming Experience, but as of yet there is no confirmation if the reason for sales restrictions is Sony or the game stores' independent actions.
Looking back at the past case; though Sony removed the account linking policy for Helldivers 2, the game is still not available for sale in countries without the PSN service. Arrowhead's CEO Johan Pilestedt said that he is trying to get both PlayStation and Valve to undo the sales restriction so that the game be available worldwide:
